Installing The Motor Mount:
|
The two pictures above left & center
show the completed internal fin fillets viewed from the aft end of the rocket
between the now installed motor mount and the body tube. In those pictures the epoxy has not yet
been applied to hold the motor mount in place. But in the next picture (above right) shows the forward end of
the motor mount where you can see the epoxy fillet bonding the motor tube,
centering ring and body tube. You may
have noticed the cables are gone now.
My TAP advisor convinced me that the forward end of the motor was the
correct mounting point, which I was planning to use in addition to the
cables. But since I was somewhat
concerned about their unruly nature, Tom didn’t have to work to hard to
convince me to cut them out. |

Well there is plenty of work to do,
including electronics bays, the aft small control fins, and more motor mount
epoxy work, but I have mounted a forward small rail button mount, as well as
forward and central larger rail button mounts. The aft rail button mounts will be drilled and tapped through
the tail cone / retainer ring. I will
then have two small button mounts, which I intend to fly with. But options to quickly install larger
buttons should rail availability call for it. The central 3rd button is for a little heavier duty
work that this rocket may some day inherit. At this point the rocket looks like
